$5 Million dollar mesothelioma verdict

A recent victory for the plaintiff in the California mesothelioma trial. Congratulations to Mark Bratt, Benno Ashrafi and Venus Burns for the 5 million dollar verdict. The plaintiff called 20 witnesses and spent 14 days in front of the jury. The plaintiff Farid Malek worked at the Abadan Refinery in Iran during the 50s, 60s and 70s. He has been living in Orange County for the past 35 years. He is 82 years old.
The verdict breakdown is as follows:
$254,048 in economic damages
$4,950,000 in non-economic damages
The liability breakdown against the primary defendant Four was as follows:
10% to Fluor Corp with no finding of punitive damages
15% to Fluor Enterprises Inc. WITH a finding of punitive damages
15% to Middle East Fluor WITH a finding of punitive damages
