Asbestos Trust Fund Bill Unfair to Asbestos Victims
By: Chris Placitella @ Jun 04, 2012
The House Judiciary Committee has scheduled the asbestos trust bill, H.R. 4369, the “Furthering Asbestos Claim Transparency (FACT) Act of 2012,” for a markup on Wednesday, June 6th. A markup is the last step in the process before a bill can be voted on by the full House. This bill is unfair to asbestos victims.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
This bill is apparently being pushed by House Republican leaders so asking individual Congresspersons for help will no doubt be extremely difficult.
Below and attached is a list of all the House Judiciary Democrats. If you live in the district of a Member listed below, I strongly encourage you to take the time to weigh in with his or her office. You can have an impact by simply leaving a message with the person answering the phone. I recommend leaving the following message or something in your own words: “Please tell the Congressman that I encourage him to OPPOSE HR 4369 when it is marked up in the Judiciary Committee this Wednesday. The bill will hurt asbestos victims and their families and do nothing to solve the public health crisis caused by asbestos.”
