Cohen Placitella & Roth Sponsor the 2011 UCP Motor Cars of the United Cerebral Palsy.

Today, United Cerebral Palsy of Philadelphia & Vicinity (UCP) announced that it will hold its 8th annual UCP Motor Cars at Aronimink Golf Club on Friday, June 24 from 7 to 11 PM.

The evening will showcase a collection of privately owned, vintage luxury automobiles curated by internationally recognized photographer Michael Furman alongside modern Jaguars and Land Rovers. UCP will be honoring Pat Ciarrocchi of CBS 3 with the UCP Life Without Limits Award in recognition of her legacy of caring and generosity of spirit for persons with disabilities. Tickets are available through United Cerebral Palsy of Philadelphia and further details are available online at ucpphila.org/motorcars.

Michael Furman, photographer and event curator commented on the collection, “We’ve selected cars that are evocative of the era when Aronimink was built. We will be exhibiting many one-of-a-kind and extremely rare vehicles. The Auburn 8-88 is this year’s showcase car. It will be complemented by a Voisin C20, a Biarritz, a Packard, an air-cooled Franklin, and vintage Jaguars, Cadillacs and Bentleys among others. Many of these cars have never been exhibited in our region before. I’m very excited about the collection. I imagine car aficionados will feel the same.

Notable guests will include students from the Villanova University Peace and Social Justice Documentary Film Class, who will be recognized for their outstanding achievement in creating ‘Coming off the D.L.’ a heartwarming documentary that follows Frank Kineavy and Nick Gaynor, two Villanova freshmen who live with cerebral palsy and manage the University’s basketball teams.

2011 Motor Cars will also feature live and silent auctions, fabulous hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, carving stations, dinner and decadent desserts, plus live music and dancing. All proceeds from 2011 Motor Cars at Aronimink will go to the Family Support Fund that allows UCP clients to access vital community services. Last year’s event at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts drew more than 360 guests and raised more than $200,000 for UCP.

Karen and Stewart Cohen, Event Co-Chairs will oversee the event’s planning. William J. Avery will serve as the evening’s Honorary Chair. Mindy and Michael Goldberg will chair the program book and Michael Smyth will chair all marketing efforts. The evening’s Auction Chair is Doris Langerman. CBS 3 and Philadelphia Magazine will serve as Motor Cars’ media sponsors. Name sponsors include Cohen, Placitella & Roth, The Great Britains and Jaguar Land Rover Main Line and Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Begley Law Group is the evening’s excellence partner.
