If you work in any of the following occupations, and are working on a building built or refurbished before 2000, you may come in to contact with asbestos:
- Heating, air conditioning and ventilation repair or engineering
- Demolition workers/ construction crew
- Carpenters
- Plumbers
- Roofing contractors
- Painters and interior decorators
- Plasterers
- Construction workers
- Fire and burglar alarm installers
- Commercial building contractors
- Gas fitters
- Computer installers
- General maintenance staff or caretakers
- Telecommunications engineers
- Building surveyors
- Cable technicians
- Electricians
- Pharmaceutical technicians and jobsite workers
- Navy or shipyard employees
- School employees
- Chemical companies
- Plants
