Josh H. Ontell

Josh Ontell is an associate with Cohen, Placitella & Roth. Josh is relentless in his pursuit of justice for his clients. He loves digging into the facts and law unique to each case to achieve the best possible result. When everything is on the line, Josh knows it is his duty to put everything he has into your case. At the firm, Josh specializes in representing catastrophically injured clients in a diverse range of complex cases—medical malpractice, products liability, premises liability, etc.

Before joining Cohen, Placitella & Roth, Josh was a federal prosecutor in Washington, DC and a state prosecutor in Virginia. As a prosecutor, he was a fierce advocate for crime victims. In one matter, a judge stated that Josh’s cross examination of a defendant was the best he had heard from a prosecutor in years.

Josh also previously defended New York City in varied negligence cases. Josh’s experience as a former defense lawyer uniquely positions him to understand opposing counsel’s tactics and deliver for his clients. While working for New York City, he was awarded the Division Chief Award for Outstanding Performance.

Josh’s broad trial experience means that he knows his way around the courtroom in state and federal court across several states.

Josh graduated magna cum laude from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. He received his undergraduate degree in Economics summa cum laude from Rutgers University.

Josh is admitted to practice in Virginia. His admission to Pennsylvania is pending
